Abstract:
This safety control device is for multi-car elevators which have a plurality of cars traveling in a hoistway. Safety control is performed according to signals from a car position/speed measuring device for measuring the position and speed of each of the plurality of cars and a plurality of landing door switches for independently detecting the open states of a plurality of landing doors in the hoistway. In cases where one of the landing doors is open: if the floor on which the door is open is the lowest floor and a car is not present within an area of a pit which is accessible during maintenance, access into the pit during maintenance is detected; if the floor on which the door is open is a floor other than the lowest floor and a car is present within an area allowing access onto the car during maintenance, access onto the car during maintenance is detected; and if the floor on which the door is open corresponds to neither of these cases and a car is not present at the floor, open-door travel is detected. In each case, automatic driving of the cars is disabled, or the cars are stopped.
