Abstract:
A safety device for a passenger conveyor is provided with: a rotating body which rotates according to the movement of steps; a protruding member that is provided at the rotating body so as to protrude in the lateral direction with respect to the direction of rotation, has a front part and a rear part with respect to the direction of rotation, and is provided with an engaging part at the front part; an engaging member that engages with the engaging part, and is provided separated from the engaging part; and a displacement member that has a main body and a distal end, the main body being attached to a building-side attachment section, and the engaging member being attached to the distal end, and that is displaced between an engagement position for retaining the engagement member at a position of engagement, and a separation position for retaining the engagement member at a separated position. In a state of displacement to the engagement position, the main body is disposed from the rear part of the engaged protruding member toward the attachment section.
