A safety gear with constant brake deceleration comprises catch plates (1) and cam levers (2). The catch plates (1) are fixedly mounted on an elevator cab, and the catch plates (1) are provided with a recess (11) having vertical edges opening near one side of an elevator guide rail (3). The elevator guide rail (3) is located in the middle of the recess (11). The cam levers (2) are arranged on two sides of the elevator guide rail (3) inside the recess (11), and one end of the cam lever (2) is connected to the catch plate (1) by means of a spring (4) and the other end of the cam lever (2) is connected to a governor rope (5). The cam lever (2) has three main stress bearing portions: a portion A abutting the surface of a vertical edge of the recess (11), a portion B abutting the elevator guide rail (3), and a portion C abutting a bottom surface of the catch plate (1). The cam lever (2) functions as both a cam and a lever, capable of amplifying the force exerted by the weight of an elevator cab and transferring the same to the elevator guide rail by a given ratio, to serve as a clamping force, such that the clamping force varies with load and achieves constant brake deceleration.
