Description

SAFETY LANDING APPARATUS FOR AIRCRAFT

Technical Field

[I] The present invention relates to a safety landing apparatus for an aircraft, and in particular to a safety landing apparatus for an aircraft which allows an airplane to land in safe on a runway in case that an emergency landing is inevitable.

[2]

Background Art [3] Generally, when an airplane lands on a runway, landing gears are ejected from an airplane body, and the airplane lands with a safe guide. [4] However, when the landing gears do not operate due to a mechanical defect in the airplane or other reasons, a large accident occurs. [5] In this case, a pilot of the airplane makes the airplane land using the body of the airplane, while dangerously hurting an airplane body itself as well as a lot of passengers or freight. [6] So, a new technology is urgently needed so as to achieve a safer body landing of an airplane when an airplane lands. [7] In the conventional art, a net is installed at the end of a runway for thereby stopping the airplane. As another method, a parachute is used. A magnetic material might be installed in an airplane and a runway, so a running distance of the airplane can be minimized with the helps of a magnetic force between the magnetic materials installed in the airplane and the runway. [8] In case that the net is installed, it is very hard to manufacture a net which has a strength strong enough to endure a tremendous force generated when an airplane lands.

Even when the net effectively absorbs such a large force, the airplane might receive a counteracting force. [9] In addition, in case that the magnetic material is used, various instruments installed in the airplane might be damaged by means of the magnetic force of the magnetic material. In case that the parachute is used, when the parachute lands on the ground, the impact as much as the impact occurring when the airplane lands on the runway is generated, which might hurts the airplane. [10]

Best Mode for Carrying out the Invention [23] The safety landing apparatus for an aircraft comprises a roller unit which includes an airplane body support post block having an airplane body fixing part of which upper

side is open for receiving a circular airplane body and a plurality of wheels, wherein said roller unit is configured to move on a runway, and moves along with an airplane body when an airplane lands using its body while stably guiding the same in a moving direction.

[24]

Mode for the Invention

[25] The safety landing apparatus for an aircraft according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings.

[26] Figure 1 is a perspective view illustrating a safety landing apparatus for an aircraft according to an embodiment of the present invention. Figure 2 is an enlarged view of a post block construction according to the present invention.

[27] As shown therein, a safety landing apparatus for an aircraft according to the present invention comprises a roller unit 13 which are movable by a remote control along with an airplane which is going to land using its body on a runway. The roller unit 13 works the same functions as the front landing gears of the airplane while moving forward at the same speed with the roller unit supporting the front side of the airplane body.

[28] The roller unit 13 is equipped with a plurality of wheels 14 for movement. A driving system for remotely controlling the roller unit might be configured based on a known art in a corresponding field.

[29] A body support post block 11 having a body fixing part 10 with a certain height for surrounding a circular body of the airplane, and a landing support base 19 are installed in the upper side of the roller unit 13.

[30] Here, the body fixing part 10 is configured to surround 1/2 of the airplane body and has a cross section made of a flexible material in a semicircular groove shape. The landing support base 19 absorbs the landing force of the airplane body, and the body fixing part 10 and the post block 11 are configured to absorb the lateral forces while fixedly supporting the airplane body.

[31] With the above construction, the front side of the airplane body is supported by the body fixing part 10 while being mounted on the mounting support base 19 and is moved forward as the roller unit is being pushed.

[32] In particular, the post block 11 is formed in an integral configuration, but is preferably formed in a combined structure consisting of two divided blocks and a grounding base 19. It is preferred that the size of the body fixing part 10 can be adjusted depending on the interval between both blocks.

[33] For example, the post block 11 might be symmetrically divided into left and right parts with respect to a vertical line. The cylinder 15 and the rain R are installed between both blocks. The interval between the blocks can be widened or narrowed

depending on the operation of the cylinder 15, so the size of the body fixing part 10 can be changed. So, it is possible to effectively cope with various kinds of airplane bodies having different sizes. In particular, since the grounding support base 19 supports the weight of the airplane, it is possible to minimize the operation of the cylinder 15 and the time of interval adjustment within 2 to 3 seconds, and the landing of the airplane can be guided in safe.

[34] A hard rubber friction pad 12 is attached to a semicircular groove bottom of the body fixing part 10. Here, the friction pad 12 allows the airplane body and the roller unit to be integrated using a friction characteristic while maintaining a flexible slide contact of the airplane body. A rectangular weight 17 is installed in front of the roller unit 13, and the weight 17 works to keep a weight center of the roller unit with respect to the weight of the airplane body.

[35] At the time when the airplane body contacts with the post block 11 of the roller unit

13, a lot of weight is loaded to the roller unit 13. At this time, since the weight 13 maintains a balance in a front side, it is possible to prevent the front side of the roller unit 13 from being listed for thereby preventing a certain accident.

[36] In the present invention a rope shooting apparatus 18 is provided so as to stably support the airplane body mounted on the roller unit 13.

[37] At the time when the airplane body is mounted in the post block 11 of the roller unit

13, the rope shot from the rope shooting apparatus 18 stably surrounds the airplane body, so the airplane body and the roller unit 13 can be integrated, and the roller unit 13 are not escaped from the airplane body for thereby reliably guiding the airplane body.

[38] A conventional rope shooting apparatus 18 might be installed in one side of the roller unit 13, namely, in one side of the body fixing part 10, and a second 16 is installed in one side of the body fixing part 10 for detecting a state that the airplane body is mounted in the body fixing part 10 and providing an operation signal to the rope shooting apparatus 18. More preferably, the sensor 16 is installed at both sides of the fixing part 10 and cooperates with a sensor(not shown) separately installed in the airplane body for thereby safely guiding the airplane body to the fixing part.

[39] When the airplane body is safely mounted in the body fixing part 10 with the help of the operation of the sensor, the sensor 16 detects the above operation, and a rope is shot from the rope shooting apparatus 18 in response to a detection signal of the sensor 16, so the surrounding portions of the airplane body is wound by means of a wire.

[40] Figure 3 is a side view illustrating a state that an airplane body is mounted by means of a safety landing apparatus for an aircraft according to an embodiment of the present invention.

[41] As shown therein, the safety landing apparatus for an aircraft is arranged in parallel

with a moving direction of the airplane on the runway.

[42] So, in a state that the front landing gears do not work properly due to a mechanical defect of the airplane, when the airplane lands using its body, the airplane first lands with its rear landing gears, and at the same time the front side of the airplane is guided and mounted into the mounting support base 19 of the post block 11 of the roller unit 13, and the body fixing part 10, respectively, and as the airplane keeps moving forwards, the front side of the airplane body is moved forward as being guided by means of the roller unit 13.

[43] The roller unit works as the front landing gears of the airplane, and reliably guide the landing of the airplane.

[44] At the time when the airplane body is mounted into the body fixing part 10, the cylinder 15 tarts operating, and the body fixing parts 10 of the power block 11 are inwardly narrowed and supports the front side of the body. In this state, the rope shot from the rope shooting apparatus 18 binds the surrounding portions of the airplane body, and the roller unit 13 stably holds the front side of the airplane body until the airplane stops by means of a braking force of the airplane itself.

[45] So, since the airplane body is moved with the helps of the guides by means of the roller unit, it is possible to safely make the airplane land on a runway without damage by impact and a fire due to a friction heat with the ground. Consequently, it is possible to minimize the damages of passenger or fright due to a collision with the ground during the landing and to allow the airplane land in safe on a runway.

[46] Figure 4 is an enlarged view of a post block construction according to another embodiment of the present invention.

[47] In the present embodiment of the present invention, it is configured to minimize the weight that the roller unit 13 receives during the landing of the airplane. A Y-shaped grounding base 19 made of a flexible material such as a rubber is disposed between the symmetrically divided post blocks 11. With the above construction, during the emergency landing of airplane, the front side of the airplane body first contacts with the grounding vase 19 earlier than the body fixing part 10 for thereby first absorbing the impact weight, and at the same time the post block 11 surrounds the airplane body based on the operation of the cylinder 15 in response to a sense signal, so the airplane can safely land on the runway. More preferably, the fixing part 10 of the post block 11 is configured as the rear side(or front side rather than rear side) is narrower than the front side, so the front side of the airplane body is mounted as being inserted into the post block while pushing the roller unit forward, whereby the weights of the airplane is distributed for thereby obtaining a desired safety.

[48] Figure 5 is an enlarged view illustrating a post block construction according to another embodiment of the present invention.

[49] As shown therein, the present embodiment of the present invention is basically configured so as to more effectively distribute the impact weight in the grounding base 19 when the body lands.

[50] The wing parts 19a of the Y-shaped grounding base 19 are extended outwardly and pass through the body fixing part 10 of the post block 11. At this time, a through hole 10a is formed in the body fixing part 10 as the wing parts 19a of the grounding base 19 pass through the same.

[51] When the airplane body mounts into the grounding base 19, the lower side of the body is supported by means of the cushion itself for thereby safely landing the airplane body, and upon landing, the cylinder 15 starts operating, and the body fixing part 10 surrounds the body.
