Title:
SAMPLE INJECTOR
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2014/097731
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to achieve a device for injecting samples into a mass spectrometer, capable of injecting the full amount of a minute volume of liquid sample while at the same time achieving a short measurement time. This sample injector comprises a needle (205), a sample loop (206), a channel switching valve (207), and a feed pump (202). The sample injector injects a liquid sample sandwiched by preceding and following air layers into the sample loop (206) and injects the entire liquid sample together with the air layers into a detection device (115). According to the present invention, by having the liquid sample be sandwiched by preceding and following air layers, diffusion of the liquid sample in the channel is suppressed and the signal intensity of the sample at the detection device (115) is increased. In addition, the start and end for data collection is determined by changes in the intensity of a detection signal generated when an air layer is injected into the detection device (115), and measurement time is shortened by increasing the feed rate. Furthermore, time for cleaning is reduced by injecting cleaning fluid (203) after the air layer and improving cleaning efficiency.
