Abstract:
This sample plate for a solid sample comprises a plate-like body (2) and a lid (3). The body (2) has a recess (21) that has a bottom surface center that protrudes in a cylindrical shape so as to form a sample stage (21a). The lid (3) has a funnel-shaped opening (31) formed therein directly above the recess (21) such that the diameter of the bottom of the opening is roughly the same as the diameter of the sample stage. When a biological tissue section or other sample (7) is accommodated in the recess (21) and the lid (3) is closed, the bottom surface wall around the opening (31) of the lid (3) pushes the sample (7) down and the sample (7) is sandwiched between the bottom surface wall and sample stage (21a). A solvent for ionization is injected into the opening (31), which has had the bottom thereof blocked by the sample (7). During measurement, a probe (106) is lowered so as to pierce the sample (7), and when the probe (106) is raised, the solvent adheres to the sample adhered to the leading end of the probe (106). According to this configuration, it is possible to repeatedly insert the probe at the same position in a state where the sample is fixed, and because a sufficient amount of solvent adheres to the sample, sufficient ionization is achieved.
