Due to the chemical composition of its materials, it does not harm the skin; it is soft and suitable for single use.

Description:
SANITARY HEADREST PROTECTION PAD

1) THE FIELD OF TECHNIQUE RELATED TO THE INVENTION

This invention entails a single use sanitary head protection pad, and is classified as: B60N 2/60 - detachable protective cover according to the International Patent Classification (IPC).

2) TECHNICAL PROBLEM

One of the major problems that exist in public transportation, primarily in buses as the most frequent form of public transportation, is the lack of any means for protecting the passengers against the transmission of various diseases and bacteria. The seats are fixed and a large number of people use them on a daily basis, placing their heads on the headrest and leaving behind a conceivably wide array of diseases (fungi, lice, dandruff ....) and many other possibly unknown bacteria. The problem becomes even more acute in the summer period when people perspire more and thus transfer all types of bodily fluids onto the seats.

3) BACKGROUND

There are many solutions used as a preventative in buses; however, these products only further exacerbate the problem. Some buses use patches of materials such as denim or velvet that are placed firmly on the seats, but this does not solve the given problem since these materials are not changed and over 10 people a day use the headrests. Other solutions, on the other hand, are more comfort- oriented and include covers with sponges which are also covered with hard textiles that absorb perspiration and bacteria, together with the fact that the sponges are not changed regularly as the product is fixed to the seat so it does not in any way solve the problem of hygiene. Hence, existing products serve more to protect the seats themselves than the people who sit in these seats. The manufacturing of such pads as well as the materials are more costly and also appear untidy and dirty, and most importantly do not solve the existing problem.

4) PRESENTATION OF THE ESSENCE OF THE INVENTION

The primary objective of the invention is to preserve the health of passengers and prevent the transmission of bacteria and potential diseases left behind by the previous passengers. In addition, the product is easy to use, can be carried in the pocket and does not pose any difficulties to the user. The invention eliminates to the greatest extent the possibility of transmission of any bodily fluids (blood, perspiration, pus...) as well as the transmission of skin scales, micro-organisms and the remains of diseased skin (fungus, herpes, ...) from the human body to the seat and from the seat to the human body, so this product protects both the people and the seat by keeping it clean and tidy. This is a single use product, in a universal size, adjustable to every seat, and covers the entire headrest, thus eliminating the possibility of skin contact with the seat. The product is made of special 40g/m 2 SPUNBOND POLYPROPYLENE material (different weights may be custom made per order) according to IPC classification of materials (DO IF 6/06; D04H 3/16; BO ID 39/16; D04H 3/00; D04H 3/14; D04H 1/42; D01 D 5/34; D01 F 6/62), which prevents the transmission of bacteria. This material is obtained by passing the extruded spinning fibres over each other in a uniformed process of fibre bonding, which are separated in the weaving process by air jets or by means of electrostatic charge. The process of obtaining this material is as follows: the first phase is polymer melt: extrusion®cooling and filtering®spinning; the second phase is filament:extrusion; the third phase is weaving: laydown on forming web®autogenous bonding; the fourth phase is the fabric: roll up. Polypropylene is the most widely used polymer for spunbond nonwoven products. It ensures the highest yield of fibre per kilogram due to its low density. Due to its very composition, it is easily degradable.

The product is packaged in special packaging (foil) and is sterile, can be carried in the pocket, and applied to the seat with a special adhesive (IPC C09J 7/4) that does not harm the fabric and can be fixed on any surface, allowing an easy and peaceful journey. The tape consists of four layers: 1. acrylic adhesive by which is attached to the pad, 2. nonwoven fabric, which represents the link between the upper and lower layer of the adhesive, i.e. the part where the adhesive is placed, 3. acrylic adhesive - by which the pad is attached to other surfaces (leather, concrete, wood, textile...), 4. release liner - which allows the top layer of the adhesive to remain intact before it adheres to the desired surface.

5) A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

The accompanying drawings which are included in the description of the invention and which form a part thereof, illustrate the best contemplated mode for the use of the invention, and are useful in understanding the basic principles of the invention.

Fig. 1 shows the front side of the pad, constructed in accordance with the described invention Fig. 2 shows the back side of the pad with adhesive tape on top

Fig. 3 shows the sectional view of the material

6) A DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF AT LEAST ONE MODE FOR USING THE INVENTION The details of the supposed mode for using the invention shall be provided in this section. An example of such a mode is illustrated in the attached drawings. Figures 1 and 2 show the shape and appearance of the head pad, made of spunbond polypropylene material whose process of obtaining is explained in section 4: Presentation of the essence of the invention. As shown in Figure 1, an advertisement may be placed on the front side on the designated area since the front side is clean and without any additions, and it is the part where the head is laid. The pad is fastened to the seat with the help of part 4, i.e., the adhesive that does not harm the fabric. The composition of the adhesive and its characteristics are explained in section 4 of this document. It can be attached to all surfaces (glass, leather, textiles, wood...) and is located at the top of the back side, which rests against the seat. The adhesive tape may be attached on both sides; the underside of the adhesive that attaches to the pad is stronger and cannot be removed without much effort, whereas the upper side of the tape, i.e. the side that adheres to the headrest is covered with protective film. After the film is removed, the pad can be adhered to any surface, and later removed without any traces and damage. Figure 3, item 1 shows the front side of the pad, consisting of stacked extruded spun fibres that are separated in the weaving process, after which the resulting material is suitable for making the invention; item 2 shows the diameter of the pad which amounts to 1 mm and is also made of stacked extruded spun fibres, whose production process itself is described in section 4 of this document; and item 3 shows the back side of the pad which rests against the seat.

7) METHOD OF APPLICATION OF INVENTION

In this manner, the invention provides a practical, durable and useful solution with low production costs. This invention involves substantial improvements, is user friendly, and prevents the transmission of bacteria and diseases among humans through the seat, in comparison with the previously known solutions of this type. Experts will recognize that a number of modifications and changes to the pad may be made with no effect on the scope and essence of the invention.
