Abstract:

A novelty candy product comprising a cylindrical barrel (10, 110) having mounted therein a hard candy portion (15, 115) slidable relative to said barrel (10, 110). The barrel (10, 110) includes an open mouth end (14, 114) removably covered by a cap (26, 126) which is frictionally or otherwise retained in closing relation of the mouth. The end of the candy portion (15, 115) remote from the mouth (14, 114) carries a valve member (19, 119) which is yieldably urged toward the mouth (14, 114) by a coil spring (25, 125). The barrel (10, 110) includes, at a position adjacent the mouth, a valve seat (13, 113). When the cap (26, 126) is removed the coil spring (25, 125) projects the candy through the mouth (14, 114) and the valve (19, 119) into sealing engagement with the valve seat (13, 113) whereby syrups developed in the course of consuming the product are precluded from entering the interior of the barrel (10, 110).
