Abstract:

A scanning endoscope (2) is provided with the following: an optical fiber (14) that guides light for emission to an organism; a holding member (41) having an insertion hole (41h) into which is inserted the optical fiber (14), from the end of which the optical fiber (14) extends by a prescribed length, and in which a depression (41g) is formed that communicates with the insertion hole (41h) at the end of the holding member; a drive unit (15) that is provided to the holding member (41) and that scans the free end of the optical fiber (14) which extends from the end of the holding member (41); an adhering part (46) that is applied to or filled into the depression (41g) to fix the optical fiber (14) and the holding member (41), and that has formed thereon a surface matching the end of the holding member (41). Consequently, during manufacture, fluctuations between individual units in the length of the free end of the optical fiber can be eliminated, and thus the optical fiber scanning characteristics between individual units are standardized.
