Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a Schwann cell differentiation promoter, a peripheral nerve regeneration promoter, or the like that contains an extract from inflamed tissue inoculated with vaccinia virus. The present invention demonstrates that extracts from inflamed tissue inoculated with vaccinia virus promote the differentiation of Schwann cells and the regeneration of peripheral nerves. Thus, a pharmaceutical preparation that contained an extract from inflamed tissue inoculated with vaccinia virus would be useful as a Schwann cell differentiation promoter, a peripheral nerve regeneration promoter, or the like.
