Abstract:
A scotch (hand scotch) for preventing railway vehicles from moving, having a sufficient rolling prevention effect for various wheel diameters and being free from derailing even at an erroneous start with the scotch kept unremoved, the scotch (S) comprising a scotch body consisting of two facing scotch blocks (BL) joined by a separation stop (8) and a wedge-like scotch head (H), wherein the scotch body is provided with inclined support surfaces (3) to prevent the rolling of wheels, and a recessed fitting portion (6) is provided in the top (1) of the scotch body to fittingly receive the scotch head (H), whereby the separation stop (8) is broken by a wedge effect to disassemble the scotch body and reduce a running-onto height when vehicles are erroneously started to run onto the scotch head, thereby preventing derailing.
