Description:
A SCRUBBING DEVICE

TECHNICAL FIELD

The invention belongs among tools, namely pressure scrubbers, which can find application in various industries, for example, as working units in snow ploughs, carcass-skinning and barking de- vices, as well as hand gardening tools.

BACKGROUND ART

An available device is used to clear roads of ice and compact snow cover (C. of A. of USSR

N 1418395, C1.E01 H5/12, prior, of 17.02.87). The device involves a horizontal barrel with perfo¬ rated end faces to hold pressure units with fitted cutters. When the barrel rotates during operation, the cutters fitted to pressure units are pliable in the plane normal to the area of destruction, so that the working unit is well adaptable to surface irregularities, which reduces the risks of damage to the working unit or road surface. The device is not completely reliable because of the numerous parts and joints, which may cause jamming of the whole gear or its damage, due to ingress of foreign matter like broken brick, stone, spl i nter, etc. Another available working unit comprises a holder with a sharp-edged scrubber fitted to its end. The other end of the holder is secured to the shaft. To ensure continuous and uniform pressure of

the scrubber against the carcass, the working unit is equipped with a pressure element designed as a torsion spring. When the device is energized, the working unit fitted to the shaft starts rotating. The scrubber is applied against the carcass with normalized pressure furnished by the spring torsi on .

This device offers adequate performance in carcass skinning. However, it is too complicated in desing and has multiple parts and joints, re¬ sulting in labour-consuming manufacture and high maintenance costs.

DISCLOSURE OF INVENTION

This invention is aimed at devising a reliable scrubber of simple design, ensuring high-quality surface clearing.

This problem is solved by creating a scrub- bing device - working unit, involving a holder securing at least one scrubber, with the scrubber made of an elastic strip looped to provide a cut¬ ting edge.

The scrubber made in the form of an elastic strip looped to provide a cutting edge ensures that the whole working unit is well adaptable to irregularities of the surface to be cleared, eli¬ minating the risks of damage caused to the working unit and/or cleared surface, due to inherent elas- tic properties of the construction itself, without any additional units, parts or devices to provide f r>r the abovementioned functions of the working unit.

The all-metal elastic-strip construction of- fers high reliability together with high quality of surface clearing due to the cutting and elastic

properties of the strip itself.

Additionally, the elastic-strip scrubber con¬ struction contributes to a radical reduction in the weight of the scrubbing working unit, permitting its application at higher speed, which in turn re¬ sults in superior capacity of the working unit and quality of surface clearing.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS

The invention is illustrated with drawings.

FIG.l(a,6,B) , 2(a,6,B), 3(a,6,B) and 4(a,ό,B) show scrubbing working unit options with different arrangements of the elastic strip secured by the holder;

FIG.5 shows the scrubber during surface clea- ri ng ( axonometric) ;

FIG.6 - same, side view;

FIG.7 - a scrubbing working unit option for snow ploughs (axonometric);

FIG.8 - a scrubbing working unit option for hand gardening tools.

The scrubbing device involves a holder 1 se¬ curing at least one scrubber 2. Scrubber 2 is de- signed as an elastic loop to provide cutting edge 3.

Scrubber 2 clears surface 4 of material 5.

FIG.l demonstrates a scrubbing unit with ends of the elastic strip secured by holder 1 at the angle " oi " to its axis and space "σ " between loop ends .

FIG.2 demonstrates a scrubbing unit with ends of the elastic strip secured by holder 1 up against each other along the axis of the holder. FIG.3 demonstrates a scrubbing unit with ends

of the elastic strip secured by holder 1 crosswise along the axis of the holder.

FIG.4 demonstrates a scrubbing unit with ends of the elastic strip secured by holder 1 up against each other and across the axis of the holder.

Other options for scrubbing unit fastening are avai 1 able.

BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION

A scrubbing unit operation version is demonst¬ rated in a snow plough (FIG.6).

Scrubbers 2 in the form of an elastic-strip loop are secured by holder 1 constructed as a shaft. When the shaft rotates, cutting edge 3 of scrubber 2 is applied to cleared surface 4 whereof material 5 is to be removed.

In doing so, the elastic loop of scrubber 2 curves to ensure intimate mating of cutting edge 3 and surface 4. This results in material 5 being de¬ tached from surface 4, captured by the scrubber and moved along the rotative motion of holder 1, with subsequent repetition of the operating cycle.

In the case of hand gardening tools (FIG.8) the scrubbing process follows a similar pattern, with the scrubber moving in forward motion relative to cleared surface . '

INDUSTRIAL APPLICABILITY

Therefore the scrubbing device of claimed design permits creation of a series of scrubbing tools of various degrees of rigidity by matching elastic pro¬ perties of strip material, and of various capacities by selecting elastic-strip width, which offers the

prospect of clearing various types of surfaces of various types of materials in a broad range of clearing speeds.
