Abstract:
The embodiments of the present invention relate to the technical field of data communications. Disclosed are an SDN-based ARP realization method and apparatus. The method comprises: a controller receiving an ARP request sent by a first switch, and when it is determined that an ARP table entry corresponding to the ARP request does not locally exist, sending, to the first switch, an instruction for instructing the first switch to flood the ARP request. In this way, by means of message forwarding between switches, an ARP request can be broadcast in the whole network; since forwarding a message between the switches occupies less network transmission resources than a controller sending a packet-out message to a switch, the network transmission resources occupied by the broadcasting of the ARP request can be greatly reduced, and the broadcasting efficiency of the ARP request is improved; at the same time, since the sending of the packet-out message is reduced, a processing load of the controller is reduced, and the problem that the load of the controller is heavier and becomes a processing bottle neck is avoided.
