Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to apply a radial-direction restoring force to the eccentricity of a rotating shaft that restores the same to the axial center position, and a tangential-direction damping force that suppresses whirling of the rotating shaft. Provided is a seal device which is equipped with a floating ring 5 in the space 4 between the outer periphery of a rotating shaft 3 and the inner periphery of a housing 2, and which is characterized in that a multilayered cylindrical body 10 formed by layering together a plurality of elastically deformable cylindrical thin plates 11 is provided between the outer peripheral surface of the floating ring 5 and the inner peripheral surface of the housing.
