Abstract:
A seal for a flow control valve is provided which can be manufactured at low cost, results in minimal wear damage to a rotor in sliding contact therewith, and has excellent properties in terms of low leakage, low friction and low wear. This annular flow control valve seal 6 is used in a flow control valve device 1 provided with a housing 2 having an introduction part 5 that receives cooling water, and a resin rotor 4 which is provided inside of the housing 2, has a spherical or cylindrical outer peripheral surface and which rotates with respect to the housing 2. The seal 6 is provided inside the housing 2, between the rotor 4 and the introduction unit 5, and slides on the outer peripheral surface 4a of the rotor 4. The seal 6 is a molded body formed from a fluororesin composition, the axial cross-sectional shape of the seal surface 6a of the seal 6 that slides on the rotor 4 is approximately semicircular, and part of the seal surface 6a is in linear contact with the rotor 4.
