Abstract:
A seal mechanism (20) is disposed on an outer peripheral side of a rotating shaft (2) that rotates about a central axis (P), and performs sealing with respect to an outer peripheral surface (2a) of the rotating shaft (2). The seal mechanism (20) is provided with: a cylindrical hole pattern seal (21A) that is formed in a cylindrical shape extending in the direction of the central axis (P), that is disposed opposing the outer peripheral surface (2a) of the rotating shaft (2) with a gap (g) therebetween, and in which a reverse swirling flow that contains a swirling component in the opposite direction to the direction of rotation of the rotating shaft (2) flows into the gap from a first end toward a second end in the direction of the central axis (P); and a plurality of holes (22) that are formed in an inner peripheral surface (21a) of the hole pattern seal (21A) so as to be opposed to the outer peripheral surface (2a) of the rotating shaft 2. The depths of the plurality of holes (22) are formed so as to decrease from the first end toward the second end in a gradual or stepwise manner.
