Title:
SEAL STRUCTURE FOR A FLOW CONTROL VALVE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2011/065548
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Disclosed is a seal structure for a flow control valve. When sealing is necessary, said seal structure can provide a good seal in a gap between valve elements and an axial sliding surface of a valve housing. Said seal structure is also capable of reducing sliding resistance as much as possible. Seal members (92, 94) comprising flexible membranes seal a gap that results from a fitting clearance (C) between an axial sliding surface (86) of a valve housing (66) and a cold-water-side valve element (82) and hot-water-side valve element (84) of a pressure balance valve that controls the inflow rate of cold and hot water by moving a balance valve element (76) along the sliding surface (86) and opening or closing a cold-water inflow passage (72) and hot-water inflow passage (74). The seal members (92, 94) are pushed up against and made to adhere to corresponding seal walls (100, 102) by fluid pressure in the gap, thereby creating a seal.
