The purpose of the present invention is to provide a sealant for an organic EL display element that provides excellent coating properties with respect to a substrate and an inorganic material film even when formed as a thin film. The present invention provides a sealant for an organic EL display element that contains a curable resin and a polymerization initiator, wherein the curable resin as a whole has a solubility parameter of not less than 16.5 (J/cm3)1/2 and not more than 19.5 (J/cm3)1/2, two or more curable resins are contained as the curable resin, the ratio of the content of the curable resins where the difference in solubility parameter between the curable resins is not more than 5 (J/cm3)1/2 to the entire curable resin is not less than 95 wt%, and the organic EL display element sealant as a whole has a surface tension at 25°C of not less than 25 mN/m and not more than 38 mN/m.
