Abstract:
Provided are a sealed battery provided with a safety valve section having a sufficiently large opening area when open, and a method of producing such a sealed battery. The sealed battery (1) is provided with an electric power generating element (90) and a battery case (10) having a safety valve section (20) at a valve forming surface (11F). The safety valve section has a thin-walled section (21) breaking when the safety valve section becomes open. The thin-walled section has first to n-th linear thin-walled sections (22, 23). The first to n-th linear thin-walled sections include a crossing thin-walled section (26S). The thin-walled section is adapted such that the breaking pressure of the crossing thin-walled section is lower than the breaking pressure of portions (21T) other than the crossing thin-walled section.
