Abstract:
A sealed honeycomb structure body (1) and a method of producing the structure body, where the sealed honey comb structure body (1) has partition walls (2) arranged so as to form plural cells (3) axially penetrating from one end face (42) to the other end face (44), an outer peripheral wall (7) surrounding the outer periphery of the partition walls (2), and sealing portions (4a, 4b) arranged so as to seal the cells (3) at either the end face (42) or the end face (44). At least part of sealing portions (4a) arranged in the vicinity of the outer wall projects from the end face (42) or the end face (44). Top portions of projection portions (5) are approximately flat or gently curved. The sealed honeycomb structure body (1) is unlikely to break, has enhanced durability, and can be suitably used for filters such as DPFs (diesel particulate filters).
