Abstract:
The invention relates to a sealing arrangement which comprises at least two abutting components that form a gap therebetween and a seal (1) that sealingly bridges said gap. The inventive sealing arrangement is characterised in that the seal (1) entirely consists of a matrix or is provided with a matrix (7) representing a composite system. Said matrix (7) is combined with a base body (2) and is a pasty mixture comprising a water-soluble material. A lubricant and a swelling agent which can be activated by means of water as well as optionally additional additives are mixed into said material. In an advantageous embodiment, the matrix (7) is introduced into a chamber (5). The wall of the chamber is configured in the form of a web (6) that can be torn out. The web is removed before assembly. The base body (2) consisting of an elastomeric material is provided with channels (4) and grooves (3) which extend in an extruded-like manner.
