Abstract:
Provided is a sealing device (100) for sealing the ends of a plurality of through holes (70a) in a honeycomb structural body (70) with a sealing material over a prescribed sealing length (L). The device (100) is provided with: a recess forming unit (99) for forming a depth-adjustable recess (20d); a retaining unit (80) for keeping the end surface of the honeycomb structural body (70) on top of the depth-adjustable recess (20d); and a depth adjustment unit (50) for changing the depth of the depth-adjustable recess (20d). The maximum depth (Dp) of the adjustable recess is at least 100% of the prescribed sealing length (L).
