Abstract:

The purpose of this invention is to provide a back-up ring that allows manufacturing with the angle of a cut portion being a standard cut angle even for a product with a small diameter or the like from restrictions on the dimensions of the equipment being used. A sealing device that is used in an annular gap (4) formed by an incline face (20) being provided on one of two members of a shaft (2) and a housing (3) that has a shaft hole into which the shaft is inserted, and for which the distance to the other member becomes progressively smaller from a high pressure side toward a low pressure side, wherein a back-up ring (1) is disposed so as to abut the incline face further to the low pressure side than a sealing member (5) that is made from an annular elastic body and that is mounted in the annular gap and comprises a cylindrical section (10) that extends in the direction of the shaft, and a projecting section (11) that is continuously provided on an edge on the high pressure side of the cylindrical body and is formed so as to project in an annular shape in the radial direction from the edge toward the incline face; and the distal end face of the projecting section in the radial direction comprises a tapered face that faces the incline face.
