Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a sealing device that: has a small number of parts, specifically, the number of parts being three or less, thereby making it possible to achieve a more compact sealing device; is resistant to protrusion; and is capable of keeping sliding resistance low. To achieve said purpose, the sealing device is obtained by combining an inner seal ring, an outer seal ring held in an outer circumferential holding groove of the inner seal ring, and a back ring. The inner seal ring is obtained from a more rigid material than the outer seal ring and is provided with a cut section at one site on the circumference. The outer seal ring is obtained from a material that has lower friction and lower rigidity than the inner seal ring and is formed to be endless. The outer seal ring satisfies a dimensional size relationship of T > A when T is the radial thickness dimension of the outer seal ring, G is the protrusion gap dimension, R is the radial width dimension of the chamfered sections on the edges of the open side of the seal installation groove, and A is the sum of the protrusion gap dimension G and the radial width dimension R of the chamfered sections on the edges of the open side.
