Abstract:

The purpose of the present invention is to counter seal noise at low cost and by means of a very simple configuration without making significant changes to the structural elements of a seal, which would require much time and expense. The annular shape of grease lip parts 31b is asymmetric with respect to the center of rotation of a securing member 31A. Therefore, the relative center of rotation B of contacted portions 31b1 of the grease lip parts 31b is offset by a distance ϵ from the center of rotation A of a rotary shaft 11A. When a slinger 21A rotates, a frictional force F is generated between the contacted portions 31b1 and a flange surface 21b1. This frictional force F generates torsion in a housing 41A supporting the securing member 31A, and a restoring force centered around the relative center of rotation B acts on the contacted portions 31b1 in resistance of this torsion. The contacted portions 31b1 receive rotational driving force from the flange surface 21b1 in a direction intersecting the restoring direction of this restoring force within a prescribed angular range, and a rotational driving component orthogonal to the restoring direction of the restoring force is supplied from the flange surface 21b1.
