Abstract:
Provided is a sealing device configured so as to prevent an increase in the pressure of contact of a lip with a counter-surface. This sealing device is disposed between an outer member 52 and an inner member 53, which rotate coaxially relative to each other. The sealing device is provided with: a metal ring 111 fitted and affixed to the inner peripheral side of the outer member 52; and a lip section 131 formed from a rubber-like elastic body and vulcanized and bonded to the metal ring 111, the lip section 131 having an annular grease lip 132 which extends toward the inside of a machine and which has a first front end section 132a, the lip section 131 also having an annular side lip 133 which extends toward the atmosphere side and which has a second front end section 133a, the lip section 131 further having an annular intermediate lip 134 disposed between the grease lip 132 and the side lip 133, the intermediate lip 134 extending toward the inner member 53 and having a third front end section 134a, the lip section 131 being configured so that the first front end section 132a, the second front end section 133a, and the third front end section 134a are in close contact with the inner member 53. The side lip 133 has a helical uneven surface section 151 located on the surface of the side lip 133, which faces the intermediate lip 134, and directed opposite the direction of machining marks on the inner member 53.
