Provided is a sealing gasket for use in a cylindrical battery comprising a battery can made of metal which has a bottomed-tubular shape and has an opening end with a reduced internal diameter, an electric power generation element accommodated in the battery can, a dish-shaped sealing plate made of metal which is fitted with the opening end with the reduced internal diameter, and a sealing gasket made of resin which is sandwiched between the opening end and the sealing plate. The sealing gasket is provided with: a disc-shaped separating wall portion; a peripheral portion which is disposed vertically at the peripheral edge of the separating wall portion and sandwiched between the opening end and the sealing plate; and a plurality of stress buffer portions comprising annular grooves forming a concentric circle in the separating wall portion. The ratio between a total height H from the lowest position to the highest position of the sealing gasket and a thickness Ha of a region of the separating wall portion in which the plurality of stress buffer portions are formed, or Ha/H, is 15% to 30% inclusive.
