Abstract:
The present invention provides a sealing member which has achieved a good balance between the effect of suppressing permeation and leakage of an electrolyte solution and the effect of decreasing the rate of occurrence of breakage of the sealing member. A sealing member for batteries that use a nonaqueous electrolyte solution, the sealing member being characterized by being formed of an elastic material, while being also characterized in that: the compression rate R during fitting is 50% or more; and if Eb is the elongation at break of the material that constitutes the sealing member and β is the cross-sectional aspect ratio of the material, Eb ≥ a × βb (wherein a = 6.919 × R – 2.066, b = 2.278 × R – 1.767) is satisfied.
