Abstract:
The present invention relates to an apparatus for opening and closing a commode seat, and more particularly, to an apparatus for opening and closing a commode seat, which is constructed such that the commode seat opening and closing apparatus supporting the commode seat rotates at proper speed to open the commode seat when a user makes use of a commode and then stands up, so that the commode seat can be automatically opened so as to prevent the commode seat from being stained with urine due to an error of the user, thereby providing hygienic cir¬ cumstances to a next user and removing inconvenience of the next user.

Claims

[1] An apparatus for opening and closing a commode seat, which is disposed at a commode and includes a commode main body; a commode seat disposed at the commode main body so as to allow the user to comfortably sit thereon; a rotation member disposed between an upper surface of the commode main body and the commode seat, and provided with a support portion for supporting one side of the commode seat; and a cylinder having a piston rod adapted to convert the rotation movement of the rotation member into a linear movement so as to be moved forwardly and rearwardly, wherein the commode seat opening and closing apparatus comprises: a main body formed with a securing portion secured to one side of the main body of the commode by means of adhesion means, a first support shaft formed pro- trudingly at an opposite side to the securing portion, a thick portion and a reinforcing rib formed at one side thereof below the support shaft to prevent twist thereof, a second support shaft formed at one end of the thick portion, and a securing hole formed thereon to correspond to the second shaft; the cylinder fit into the securing hole and secured to the main body by fastening means, the cylinder being provided with the piston rod at the inside thereof so that it can reciprocate; the rotation member secured to one end of the piston rod by a first pin and fit into the first support shaft at the adjacent position so that it can rotate by a predetermined radius; an elastic member engaged at one end of the rotation member by a second pin, and is engaged at the second support shaft at the other end thereof.

[2] The apparatus according to claim 1 , wherein the cylinder has a tapered inner wall surface, and at least one fluid passageway is formed thereon.

[3] The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein one end of the piston rod moving forwardly and rearwardly in the cylinder by the rotation member is disposed to penetrate through a closed end of the cylinder formed at the rear end, and a compression member acting as a check valve is disposed at a mid portion to operate against oil filled in the cylinder.

[4] The apparatus according to claim 3, wherein the compression member acting as the check valve includes: key grooves formed at the piston rod with a desired interval therebetween; a check valve holder secured between the key grooves by a snap ring, and formed with an orifice at any portion thereof; and a rubber packing member disposed at a circumferential surface of the check

valve holder to be closely contacted with a wall body.

[5] The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the elastic member is a tension spring.

[6] The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the elastic member is a rubber string with good elastic force and restoring force.

[7] An apparatus for opening and closing a commode seat, which is disposed at a commode and includes a commode main body; a commode seat disposed at the commode main body so as to the user to comfortably sit thereon; a rotation member disposed between an upper surface of the commode main body and the commode seat, and provided with a support portion for supporting one side of the commode seat; and a cylinder having in a piston rod adapted to convert the rotation movement of the rotation member into a linear movement so as to moved forwardly and rearwardly, wherein the commode seat opening and closing apparatus comprises: a main body formed with a securing portion secured to one side of the main body of the commode by means of adhesion means, a first support shaft formed pro- trudingly at an opposite side to the securing portion, a thick portion and a reinforcing rib formed at one side thereof below the support shaft to prevent twist thereof, a second support shaft formed at one end of the thick portion, and a securing hole formed thereon to correspond to the second shaft; the cylinder fit into the securing hole and secured to the main body by fastening means, the cylinder being provided with a piston rod at the inside thereof so that it can reciprocate; the rotation member secured to one end of the piston rod by a first pin and fit into the first support shaft at the adjacent position so that it can rotate by a predetermined radius; an elastic member engaged at one end of the rotation member by a second pin, and is engaged at the second support shaft at the other end; a tension adjustment device disposed between the second pin and the first support shaft so that one end thereof is inserted into the elastic member so as to adjust the rotation force of the rotation member; and a check valve holder formed integrally at one end of the piston rod.

[8] The apparatus according to claim 7, wherein the tension adjustment device includes an elongate rectangular shaped body formed with a plurality of holes or grooves opened to one side at uniform interval, and a protrusion at one end of the body so that it can be fit between the elastic members.

[9] The apparatus according to claim 7, wherein the cylinder is provided with one open end screw engaged with a plug, and the other closed end, and the plug is

provided with an o-ring or a bushing for preventing the leakage of oil in the cylinder, and the check valve is provided at the upper portion of the check valve holder with a control plate for opening and closing an oil passageway according to the operation of the piston rod; and a hook formed protrudingly at the upper portion of the check valve holder for preventing the separation and controlling the movement of the control plate.

Description A SEAT OF COMMODE OPENING/CLOSING APPARATUS

Technical Field

[1] The present invention relates to an apparatus for opening and closing a commode seat, and more particularly, to an apparatus for opening and closing a commode seat, which is constructed such that the commode seat opening and closing apparatus supporting the commode seat rotates at proper speed to open the commode seat when a user makes use of a commode and then stands up, so that the commode seat can be automatically opened so as to prevent the commode seat from being stained with urine due to an error of the user, thereby providing hygienic circumstances to a next user and removing inconvenience of the next user.

Background Art

[3] In general, a commode used in a toilet is called a western commode, and comprises a main body formed to enable a user to sit thereon to relief himself/herself, a commode seat disposed on the main body of the commode so that the user can comfortably sit thereon, a cover for covering an excrement opening, and a water storage bath for storing cleaning water. In particular, the commode seat is constructed such that the user upwardly opens or downwardly closes it, if necessary. In other words, the commode seat should be opened when a man urinates, and should be closed when a woman uses it or a man relieves nature.

[4] In this regard, the commode seat should be raised or lowered manually to cause inconvenience in use, and hence various apparatuses for automatically opening and closing a commode seat have been developed.

[5] As an example, a device has been developed which is provided with a foot plate so that a seat plate connected to the foot plate can be raised by stepping on the foot plate, and other examples are configured such that a coil spring is disposed at a rotation port ion of the seat plate so that the seat plate can be raised by means of the restoring force of the spring, or a motor is provided at the rotation portion of the seat plate so that it can be driven by a separate electric power supply to openably or closeably raise or lower the commode seat.

[6] However, in case of the apparatus for opening and closing the commode seat of the commode, which is provided with the conventional foot plate as described above, there is caused inconvenience because the foot plate should be operated by the foot of the user. In case of the commode seat opening and closing apparatus provided with the coil spring, there occurs a problem in that a user suffers from an inconvenience in taking

the next action because when the user stands up after using the commode with the commode seat lowered, the user stands up and simultaneously the commode seat is openably raised.

[7] Also, the commode seat opening and closing apparatus provided with the motor entails problems in that a high-priced motor should be installed and a separate electric power supply means should be provided, resulting in an increase of production cost, as well as the user should select a motor driving button, in particular, an electric device should be used at the toilet where water is continuously used, and hence there is a possibility of disorder and danger caused by the leak of electricity due to moisture.

[8] Accordingly, the present inventor has developed a commode seat opening and closing apparatus capable of gradually openably raising the commode seat by using hydraulic pressure and a tensioning force and restoring force of an elastic member in the commode seat opening and closing apparatus supporting the seat of the commode to solve problems arising in the above conventional art. Disclosure of Invention Technical Problem

[9] Accordingly, the present invention has been devised to solve such conventional problems, and it is an object of the present invention to provide an apparatus for opening and closing a commode seat of a commode, which is constructed such that when a user sits on the commode seat, a rotation shaft disposed at a main body of the commode seat opening and closing apparatus and a piston rod of a cylinder are moved forwardly and rearwardly to rotate a rotation member by a predetermined radius by means of an elastic member and hydraulic pressure, thereby automatically openably raising the commode seat.

[10] Another object of the present invention is to exclude the possibility of disorder and danger caused by electrical leakage due to moisture by removing an electrical device.

[11] Still another object of the present invention is to reduce a load applied to a piston and conduct the movement of the piston slowly for a predetermined time by having an inclined surface (tapered surface) and a fluid passageway defined on an inner diameter of a cylinder.

[12] Yet another object of the present invention is to adequately adjust the rotation force of the rotation member and the progressing speed of the piston rod by using a tension adjustment device.

[13] A further object of the present invention is to facilitate the progressing speed of the piston rod by having a fluid passageway formed longitudinally in the cylinder to have a cross shape when viewed from a side, and extending any one orifice longer than the other orifice.

Technical Solution

[14] To achieve the above object, the present invention provides an apparatus for opening and closing a commode seat, which is disposed at a commode and includes a commode main body 2; a commode seat 3 disposed at the commode main body so as to allow the user to comfortably sit thereon; a rotation member 200 disposed between an upper surface of the commode main body and the commode seat, and provided with a support portion 210 for supporting one side of the commode seat; and a cylinder 300 having a piston rod 310 adapted to convert the rotation movement of the rotation member into a linear movement so as to be moved forwardly and rearwardly,

[15] wherein the commode seat opening and closing apparatus comprises:

[16] a main body 100 formed with a securing portion 101 secured to one side of the main body 2 of the commode by means of adhesion means, a first support shaft 110 formed protrudingly at an opposite side to the securing portion, a thick portion 102 and a reinforcing rib 103 formed at one side thereof below the support shaft to prevent twist thereof, a second support shaft 120 formed at one end of the thick portion, and a securing hole 104 formed thereon to correspond to the second shaft;

[17] the cylinder 300 fit into the securing hole and secured to the main body 100 by fastening means, the cylinder being provided with the piston rod 310 at the inside thereof so that it can reciprocate;

[18] the rotation member 200 secured to one end of the piston rod by a first pin Pl and fit into the first support shaft 110 at the adjacent position so that it can rotate by a predetermined radius;

[19] an elastic member 400 engaged at one end of the rotation member by a second pin

P2, and is engaged at the second support shaft 120 at the other end thereof.

[20] The commode seat opening and closing apparatus according to the present invention is characterized in that the cylinder has a tapered inner wall surface 301, and at least one fluid passageway 302 is formed thereon.

[21] The commode seat opening and closing apparatus according to the present invention is characterized in that one end of the piston rod 310 moving forwardly and rearwardly in the cylinder 300 by the rotation member 200 is disposed to penetrate through a closed end of the cylinder formed at the rear end, and a compression member 500 acting as a check valve is disposed at a mid portion to operate against oil filled in the cylinder.

[22] The commode seat opening and closing apparatus according to the present invention is characterized in that the compression member 500 acting as the check valve includes key grooves 311, 312 formed at the piston rod with a desired interval therebetween; a check valve holder 520 secured between the key grooves by a snap

ring 510, and formed with an orifice 521 at any portion thereof; and a rubber packing member 530 disposed at a circumferential surface of the check valve holder to be closely contacted with a wall body. [23] The commode seat opening and closing apparatus according to the present invention is characterized in that the elastic member is a rubber string with good elastic force and restoring force.

Mode for the Invention

[56] Hereinafter, the preferred embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the appended drawings.

[57] Embodiment 1

[58] The commode seat opening and closing apparatus 1 according to the present invention comprises, largely a main body 100, a rotation member 200, a piston rod 310 received in a cylinder 300, and an elastic member 400.

[59] The main body 100 of the apparatus is formed into a rectangular member, and as shown in FIG. 1, is protruding formed with a securing portion 101 fixed to the main body 2 of the commode at one side by means of adhesion means (not shown), is protruding formed with a fist support shaft 110 at opposite side to correspond to the securing portion, and are formed with a thick portion 102 and a reinforcement rib 103 at lower one side with respect to the first support shaft 110 to prevent the torsion of the main body.

[60] Also, a second support shaft 120 is integrally formed to protrude at a portion where the thick portion 102 is formed.

[61] In this instance, a iron piece of 1 D 1 shape can be attached instead of the thick portion

102 to reinforce the main body. In addition, a securing hole 104 is formed at a close position corresponding to the second support shaft 120 to insert and fit a securing protrusion 303 formed protrudingly at the cylinder 300.

[62] The cylinder 300 is constructed that oil is accommodated at the inside, a plug 320 is screw-fit at the front side to prevent the leakage of oil, and as shown in FIG. 2, one end of the piston rod 310, which is moved forwardly and rearwardly by the rotation member 200, is disposed to penetrate through a closed end 304 formed at a rear end of the cylinder, a compression member 500 acting concurrently as a check valve is

disposed at a mid portion to operate against the oil filled in the cylinder, and as shown in FIG. 3, an inner wall surface is formed as a tapered surface 301, and at least one fluid passageway 302 is formed thereon.

[63] In this instance, one side of the cylinder is provided with a securing protrusion 303 so that it can be fit into the securing hole 104 formed at the main body 100, and the securing protrusion 303 is fixed by means of fastening means (not shown) after it is fit into the securing hole.

[64] As shown in FIG. 3 (a) and FIG. 3(b), the compression member 500 acting as the check valve, comprises a key grooves 311, 312 formed at the piston rod 310 with a desired interval therebetween, a check valve holder 520 secured between the key grooves by a snap ring 510 and formed with an orifice 521 at any one portion thereof, and a rubber packing member 530 disposed at an outer circumferential surface of the check valve holder and air-tightly close contacted with a wall body.

[65] Meanwhile, one end of the piston rod 310 is formed with a hole 313 so that it is secured by the first pin Pl after it is inserted into a first recess groove 202 having a pin hole formed at the rotation member 200.

[66] As shown in FIG. 1 or FIG. 2, the rotation member 200 comprises largely a rod 220 formed at one end with a rotatable support portion 210, and a body 230 formed integrally with the rod and formed with a second recess groove 203 having a pin hole at the other end for receiving an elastic member 400.

[67] Also, the body 230 is formed with a support hole 201 into which a first support shaft 110 formed protrudingly at the main body 110, and is formed with a second recess groove 203 having a pin hole at an adjacent position of the support hole for inserting one end of the piston rod 310.

[68] Meanwhile, one end of the elastic member 400 is secured to the second recess groove 203 having a pin hole of the rotation member 200 by means of a second pin P2, and the other end is held and engaged with the second support shaft 120 formed protrudingly at the main body 100.

[69] The elastic member 400 can be a tensional spring or a rubber string or a plate spring having a good elastic force and restoring force.

[70] Hereinafter, the operation of the commode seat opening and closing apparatus 1 of the present invention will be described with reference to FIG. 2.

[71] If a user artificially pushes the commode seat in the arrow (A) direction when the commode seat is opened perpendicularly as shown in FIG. 2, the rotation member 200 is rotated thereby extending the elastic member 400 secured to the second recess groove 203 of the rotation member 200 by the second pin P2, so that the piston rod 310 becomes to retreat in the arrow (B) direction.

[72] Then, as shown in FIG. 3, the compression member 500 acting as the check valve

becomes to retreat by the application of the pressure of the oil accommodated in the cylinder 300.

[73] In this instance, the oil accommodated at the rear side of the check valve holder 520 is partially leaked to the front side of the check valve holder through the orifice 521 thereby mitigating the oil pressure distribution.

[74] If the user stands up at the above state, the rotation member 200 is rotated in the opposite direction of the arrow [c] by the contraction force of the extended elastic member 400, and the piston rod 310 disposed integrally with the rotation member becomes to progress in the direction opposite to the arrow (B) at the same time.

[75] In this instance, the compression member 500 acting as the check valve stays temporary in the cylinder having a tapered surface 301 and slowly extends so that the oil stored in one side of the check valve holder 520 returns to its original state via the orifice concurrently with the passage of the rubber packing member 530 disposed at outer peripheral surface of the check valve holder 520.

[76] Then, the rotation member 30 secured to one end of the piston rod 310 is erected vertically gradually to become vertical instantly.

[77] Accordingly, the commode seat (not shown) is always at an opened state.

[79] Embodiment 2

[80] FIG. 4 to FIG. 6 are views showing other embodiments of the commode seat opening and closing apparatus 1 of the present invention, and is identical with the embodiment 1 in that it is comprised basically of the main body 100, the rotation member 200, the piston rod 310 received in the cylinder 300, and the elastic member 400.

[81] However, the present embodiment is different from the embodiment 1 in respect of the construction of the tension adjustment device 600 for adjusting the tension of the elastic member 400, and the inside of the cylinder 300.

[82] Hereinafter, same numeral is denoted for the construction and element identical with embodiment 1 and explanation therefore is omitted.

[83] As shown in an enlarged view of FIG. 4 showing the principal portion, the cylinder

300 is opened at one end so that it is screw-engaged by the plug 320 and is provided with a closed end at the other end.

[84] The plug 320, which is screw-engaged with the cylinder 300, is provided with an o- ring 325 to prevent leakage of the oil in the cylinder receiving the piston rod 310 and to move the piston rod smoothly.

[85] In addition, as shown in FIG. 4 showing the principal portion in an enlarged cross- sectional view, it is constructed that the progression speed of the piston rod 310 can be accelerated by defining any one fluid passageway 302 with a tapered surface 301

formed at the cylinder 300 to have a wider area 301 '(functioning as an orifice) than that of other passageway.

[86] In this instance, as shown in FIG. 5, the commode seat erection apparatus 1 of the commode is constructed that the securing portion 101 secured to the main body 2 of the commode by means of adhesion means (not shown) is formed to be a "D" shape, with a screw hole formed at one end thereof, so that it can be secured to a screw hole 330 formed at the cylinder 300 by means of a screw S, thereby securing the commode seat erection apparatus 1 to the main body firmly.

[87] Also, as shown in FIG. 6, the check valve holder 520 is provided with a control plate 522 at the upper side thereof to open and close an oil passageway 521 according to the operation of the piston rod 310, and the control plate is secured movably by a hook 523 formed protrudinglyly at the upper side of the check valve holder 520, and is injection molded integrally with the piston rod 320.

[88] For instance, as shown in FIG. 6, the disk type control plate 522 is disposed within a length of the hook 523, so that it maintains a closed state from the lowest dark line to the thin dark line when the piston rod progresses forward, and the control plate 522 is opened as shown at a mid portion (secondary dotted line) when it is retreated, thereby discharging the oil filled in the front side of the cylinder to the inside of the cylinder through the oil passageway 521 , and finally it is closed again as shown by a dark line denoted at the lower end when the piston rod 320 is completely stopped.

[89] Also, as shown in FIG. 7, the tension adjustment device 600 for controlling the operation of the rotation member and the piston rod is constructed that several holes 601 are formed at a long rectangular shaped iron fragmented body 610, a protrusion piece 611 is formed at one end so that it is disposed between the elastic member 400, and any one hole of the several holes is inserted into the second support shaft 120 disposed at one end of the main body 100.

[90] Therefore, when the tension is to be controlled by using the tension adjustment device 600 disposed as described above, any one hole of the several holes 601 is inserted into the second support shaft 120 thereby insert one side thereof between the elastic member 400, and a hook provided at one end of the elastic member is hooked at the second pin P2 of the main body 100.

[91] At that state, when the basic tension is primary adjusted, if it is determined to be improper, the elastic member 400 hung at the second pin P2 of the main body 100 is extracted and the body 610 of the tension adjustment device is rotated in the arrow direction shown in FIG. 5(a), the protrusion 611 is moved between the elastic member, that is, along the steel wire of a diverged spiral shape, to be progressed forward so that the elastic force of the elastic member becomes reduced.

[92] Accordingly, as described above, the tension can be secondarily adjusted properly

by gradually moving the tension adjustment device 600 forward.

[93] FIG. 8 is a view showing other embodiment of the tension adjustment device 600 of the present invention.

[94] Herein, the tension adjustment device 600 is constructed to be disposed between the elastic members 400 such that a plurality of holes 602 opened to one side is formed at the long rectangular shaped iron fragmented body 610, and the protrusion 611 is formed at one end of the body.

[95] In such a case, since one side of the plurality of holes 602 is opened, they can be easily extracted from the second support shaft 120 of the main body and hanged to other groove thereby performing the adjustment of the tension more easily.

[96] Embodiment 3

[97] FIG. 9 and FIG. 10 are views showing other embodiments of the commode seat opening and closing apparatus according to the present invention. In the embodiments, the basic constitution, the action and the effect are the same as those of the basic embodiment, and it is different from the basic embodiment in that a control plate 540 with small elastic force is disposed above the check valve holder 520, which is provided at one end of the piston rod 310 for rotating the rotation member 200, thereby controlling the oil flow through the oil passageway 521 in the cylinder. This is the same as the explanation of FIG. 4.

[98] Also, the control plate 540 with small elastic force is adapted to mitigate the impact in the cylinder and instantly minimize the impact transferred to the piston rod when the piston rod 310 drastically progresses forward, and control the forward and rearward movement of the piston rod by providing oil rings 541 at both sides of the check valve holder 520, and prevent the leakage of the oil in the cylinder by disposing a bushing B between the plugs 320.

Industrial Applicability

[100] As described above, the present invention has advantageous effect in that the commode seat opening and closing apparatus is provided between the main body of the commode and the commode seat, so that when the user relives himself/herself and then manipulates the lever disposed at the water tank, the commode seat is automatically erected although the user does not raise the commode seat again, thereby providing hygienic circumstances to a next user and removing inconvenience of the next user.
