Abstract:
A load acting on a seatbelt is limited by a torsion bar (12) when a spool (9) and a rocking base (20) are rotated relative to each other. When the spool (9) is rotated a predetermined amount relative to the rocking base (20), a stopper (23) presses an EA member (27) to grip the EA member (27) between the stopper (23) and the body section (20a) of the rocking base (20). When the spool (9) is further rotated relative to the rocking base (20), the stopper (23) presses and crushes the EA member (27) to perform a seatbelt load limiting operation. When the movement of the stopper (23) is stopped, the seatbelt load limiting operation by the torsion bar (12) is completed. Thus, the seatbelt load limiting operation by the EA member (27) is performed immediately before the seatbelt load limiting operation by the torsion bar (12) is completed.
