Abstract:
Provided is a secondary battery electrode active material exhibiting favorable high rate discharge characteristics and having a large discharge capacity by means of limiting the amount of impurities in the electrode active material, which has a lithium-nickel-manganese complex oxide having a spinel structure as the primary component. Further provided is a secondary battery provided with the active material. The secondary battery electrode active material has a lithium-nickel-manganese complex oxide having a spinel structure as the primary component. The ratio of the main peak strength in the (200) plane of impurities having a halite structure with respect to the main peak strength in the (111) plane resulting from x-ray diffraction of the lithium-nickel-manganese complex oxide having a spinel structure is no greater than 3.0%, and the half band width of the diffraction line in the (111) plane of the lithium-nickel-manganese complex having a spinel structure is no greater than 0.135°.
