A secondary battery and a battery module, relating to the technical field of production of energy storage devices. The secondary battery comprises a first terminal (30), a second terminal (20), a cap sheet (10), an electrode assembly and a turnover sheet (70), wherein the electrode assembly comprises a first pole piece and a second pole piece, and the first terminal (30) is electrically connected to the cap sheet (10). The second terminal (20) is electrically insulated from the cap sheet (10), and the turnover sheet (70) is attached to the second terminal (20). In a normal state, the first pole piece is electrically connected to the first terminal (30), and the second pole piece is electrically connected to the second terminal (20) by means of the turnover sheet (70). When the pressure within the secondary battery exceeds a reference pressure, the turnover sheet (70) can be turned over so that the turnover sheet (70) disconnects an electrical connection with the second pole piece, and the turnover sheet (70) turned over is electrically connected to the cap sheet (10), so that the first terminal (30) is electrically connected to the second terminal (20). Thereby, even if a vehicle is in a running state, the vehicle cannot be stalled suddenly, thus improving the security of the vehicle.
