Abstract:
A secondary battery, wherein: a positive electrode (21) has a coated section (21B) which is coated with a positive electrode active material layer and also has a positive electrode active material-uncoated section (21C), both of which are provided on a belt-shaped positive electrode foil (21A); a negative electrode (22) has a coated section (22B) which is coated with a negative electrode active material layer and also has a negative electrode active material-uncoated section (22C), both of which are provided on a belt-shaped negative electrode foil (22A); the positive electrode active material-uncoated section (21C) is joined to a positive electrode current collector (24) at one end of an electrode winding; the negative electrode active material-uncoated section (22C) is joined to a negative electrode current collector (25) at the other end of the electrode winding; the positive electrode active material-uncoated section (21C) and/or the negative electrode active material-uncoated section (22C) have surfaces (41, 42) which are formed by overlapping one another by bending toward the center axis of the wound structure; and an observation of the cross-sections of the active material-uncoated sections (21C, 22C) along a plane which contains said center axis reveals that at least sections of the active material-uncoated sections near the center axis are bent into multiple folds.
