Abstract:
It is possible to obtain a shaft sealing function by causing a pressing force from the thick part of a gasket to be act on a shaft part of a connection terminal, and due to this configuration, provided is a rectangular secondary battery capable of maintaining secure sealing for a longer period of time than conventional batteries. A rectangular secondary battery according to one embodiment of the present invention includes: an electricity storage element; a current collector connected to the electricity storage element; a battery casing that stores the electricity storage element and the current collector and that is provided with an opening; a lid that closes the opening in the battery casing and includes an external terminal disposed thereon; and a connection terminal that connects the external terminal and the current collector. A gasket is provided around the axis of the connection terminal, the gasket is provided with a pair of width-narrowing sections, and the lid or the current collector is provided with a tapered section disposed between the pair of width-narrowing sections.
