Abstract:
The invention minimizes the occurrence of internal short-circuits caused by the intrusion, into the interior of a mixture layer stack of a wound electrode group, of metal contaminants which have been generated as dust when joining metal foil exposed sections of the wound electrode group. The problem to be solved by the invention is to minimize the occurrence of internal short-circuits caused by the intrusion, from a metal foil gap between a joined section and the mixture layer stack section into the interior of the mixture layer stack in the wound electrode group, of metal contaminants which have been generated as dust when joining the metal foil exposed sections of the wound electrode group. This secondary battery comprises: a wound electrode group containing electrodes that have been wound, each having a mixture layer coated thereon and a metal foil exposed section toward one end thereof; and a collecting plate connected to the metal foil exposed section by welding. The secondary battery is characterized in that, in the metal foil exposed section between the mixture layer stack section of the wound electrode group and a welded section of the collecting plate, a recessed section is provided, oriented in the direction of the winding center of the wound electrode group.
