Abstract:
The present invention relates to a secondary battery capable of improving insulation safety. An embodiment provides a secondary battery comprising: an electrode assembly; a case for accommodating the electrode assembly; and a cap assembly coupled to the upper part of the case, wherein the cap assembly comprises: a cap-up; a safety vent installed below the cap-up and having a vent extension part extending above the cap-up to surround the edge of the cap-up; and an insulation washer attached onto the vent extension part and the cap-up, wherein a welding zone having a thickness smaller than that of the surrounding part thereof is formed in the vent extension part.
