Abstract:
In this secondary battery, a first outer member has a housing space defined by a bottom wall and side walls and comprises a flange defining the rim of an opening in the housing space, said flange being at a site on the opposite side to the bottom wall. The housing space has an electrode group housed therein and a second outer member is arranged facing the flange. A welded section welds the flange and the second outer member and seals the housing space, at a section that protrudes towards the outer circumference side from the rim of the opening. A folded section is provided between the rim of the opening and the welded section, across at least part of the range in the circumferential direction of the opening. The flange and the second outer member are folded together in the folded section.
