Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2008/100234
Kind Code:
A2
Abstract:
The subject of this invention is a security lock with modified cylindrical insert with one or more blocking pins operated through locking and unlocking mechanism with a standard cylinder lock with an entry hole, which is installed of-axis of key entry or electromagnetic device. Security lock with modified cylindrical insert according to this intervention includes a modified cylinder lock (1 ) with holes (where in case of a regular cylinder lock there is a combination of pins and springs), that contain one or more blocking pins (3), guided through unlocking mechanism. Basic implementation uses in case of previously mentioned mechanism for moving the blocking pins a standard cylinder lock, which is placed of-axe of a key entry and where it is also possible to replace it with an electromagnetic device, which when activated, moves the pin or pins.

Description:

SECURITY LOCK WITH MODIFIED CYLINDRICAL INSERT

The subject of this invention is a security lock with modified cylindrical insert with one or more blocking pins operated through locking and unlocking mechanism with a standard cylinder lock with an entry hole, which is installed of-axis of key entry or electromagnetic device. This invention falls within the class E 05 B 13/08 of International patent classification.

Technical issue this invention overcomes successfully, is a construction solution of such security lock, that facilitates the use of standard architectural lock with cylinder lock and represents an efficient protection against burglery in a way of damaging the cylinder lock, its breaking or some other way of opening the door by determining the combinations of cylinder lock.

Identified solutions of standard architectural locks are usually equiped with a cylinder lock, when used for gates and other door types. The latest implementations of cylinder locks consists of various safety components that prevent damaging the lock. These for example include safety shield against rupture, protection against drilling, GPI systems and so on. These systems contain steel pins within the core and the body of the cylinder and magnetic systems, which have greatly increased the number of

combinations. These systems cause increase in prices of such locks and do not decrease the number of mechanical damages. Despite the increase in prices we can come accross professional burglers, who use special devices ( a threaded mandrel on metal prism) for pulling the lock out of its chamber. This way they tear the pins, destroy combinations and disable functioningt of the lock. This is similar to pulling a cork out from the bottle.

Classical locks have direct access to key slit, which facilitates insertion of foreign objects, glues and similar materials and that can prevent normal functioning of the security locks or disables a key lock to function properly. According to this intervention a security lock with modified cylinder lock resolves a determined technical issue in a way, that its modified cylinder locks are placed in holes, where in case of a regular cylinder lock a combination of pegs and springs of different blocking pins, operated through locking and unlocking mechanism, are located. Basic implementation uses a standard cylinder lock for moving the blocking pins, which is located of-axe of key slit. It is also possible to replace it with an electromagnetic device, which when activated, moves a pin or pins. Based on this intervention a safety lock can be installed in every door on a specific place, where a standard architectural lock without additional door alteration has previously been placed.

This intervention shall be explained thoroughly based on implementation case and pictures below:

Picture 1 : security lock with modified cylindrical insert according to this intervention in a cross-section and side view;

Picture 2: a side view on a modified cylinder insert in partial cross- section from aside;

Picture 3: based on this intervention, the inside view on external protective appliance of security lock with modified cylindrical insert after the first implementation case without inserted device for moving;

Picture 4: a front view on mechanisms for moving the pins after the first implementation case

Picture 5: a back view on mechanisms for moving the pins after the first implementation case

According to this intervention a security lock with modified cylindrical insert, which is shown in pictures 1 to 5, is in picture 1 presented in cross- section and side view. It consists of a standard architectural lock A with modified cylinder lock 1 and mechanism 2 for moving the blocking pin or pins 3, placed in modified cylinder lock 1.

A regular cylinder lock has got conducted holes, intended for placement of pins and springs, where their position at the key slit depends on notches in the key and only a correct position of pegs facilitates a release of the cylinder lock and accordingly also a rotation of the cylinder lock core. In case of modified cylinder lock 1 , these holes are used as a guide of blocking pin or pins 3 and could also be prolonged in the wall 4 of cylinder lock 1. Blocking pin or pins 3 have a semicircular setting 5 with a hole 6 on the bottom side. The blocking pin 3 can also move inside a groove, which is modified especially for this situation and placed inside the external protective appliance 14.

In relation to this intervention, on the inner side of the external protective appliance, there is a mechanism 2 for moving the pin or pins 3 of security lock with modified cylinder lock. It is explained as it appears on pictures 3 to 5.

In appropriately designed slot 7, the mechanism 2 consists of a prone, flat designed part 8, which appears in a shape of a kidney and is srewed to the rear wall of cylinder lock 9 and has a braided plug 10 on the front wall of its housing. After the insertion of specially designed key 11 , its shape can be seen in picture 1, the key shall be turned through a visible entry hole 12 from its installed position for 180° in a way, that a jagged part of the key enters back in the cylinder lock core, when pulling back. Through rotation of the

key we turn the cylinder lock core 9, where a cylinder lock 9 also moves and that causes the movement of blocking pin or pins 3 due to adherence of braided plugs 10 to the hole 6 of blocking pin or pins 3.

When locking, we block the movement of modified cylinder lock 1 , the first pin 3 also closes the entry hole of modified cylinder lock, so that it is impossible to insert objects inside, which could eventually obstruct the entry hole or mechanically damage the modified cylinder lock 1.

For unlocking the door we move the cylinder lock 9 with inserted key 11 in a way, that releases blocking pin or pins 3 and facilitates the insertion of the key in the modified cylinder lock 1. Turning this key causes the door to open.

Based on implementation of modified cylinder lock 1 , the described mechanism 2 can move one, two or all ( usually five) of the pins 3. With implementation of modified cylinder lock with one pin 3, which in case of locked security lock blocks the entry hole of modified cylinder lock, where afterwards a key with regularly executed notches shall be used for opening the remaining combination of placed pegs of cylinder lock. In case of all implemented pins 3, it is possible after we move them, to turn the modified cylinder with a suitable flat object or a blind key. Mechanism 2 for moving the blocking pin or pins 3, which is placed in the modified cylinder lock 1 is according to the first implemented case, shown in pictures 3 to 5, where it is also possible to replace those with an electromagnetic device, which when activated, moves the pin or pins 3

into the interlocking position. This way the mechanism 2 falls of, however the opening is possible by pressing the button through wireless communication, while all other functions, including the shape of a pin or pins 3 remain unchanged. Considering described possibilities and combinations of two cylinder locks, the number of combinations for opening doubles and apart from that the security lock according to this intervention perfectly resolves primarily determined technical problem in a way, that disables direct access to the key slit. The slit is namely accessiblr only from the inside, while it is impossible to determine its exact position from the outside, that is why it is practically impossible to mechanically damage the lock ( by which we mean damages such as breaking, drilling). In addition to demonstrated construction of the lock makes it impossible to insert undesirable objects in the lock, which is especially important for exposed doors ( for example the gates of common apartments, schools and other public places). Visible entry hole 12 is namely only a transitional measure for inserting the key. The entry hole 21 is simply shaped where possible foreign objects can be pulled out or pushed forward into an empty space.
