A security system comprises a biometric authentication sensor with which it is possible to detect a fingerprint and the position pattern of a vein, a memory configured such that the position pattern data and the fingerprint are registered, a control unit, and an operation unit. The control unit is configured so as to determine whether the detected fingerprint matches a registered fingerprint, determine whether the detected vein position pattern matches registered position pattern data, and obtain a vein determination result. The operation unit is configured so as to perform a prescribed process on the basis of the vein determination result when the control unit has determined that the detected fingerprint matches a registered fingerprint. The operation unit is configured so as not to perform the process when the control unit has determined that the detected fingerprint does not match a registered fingerprint. This security system has a high-level security function.
