Title:
SEISMIC ISOLATION STRUCTURE FOR BUILDINGS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1997/048866
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A seismic isolation structure for buildings which can be constituted simply and economically by eliminating dampers and springs and in which the load resistance of each member can be improved by reducing a pressure at a point of contact between a ball and a support member and the influences of foreign matters on seismic isolation performance can be avoided. In this structure for slidably supporting buildings in a horizontal direction with respect to a foundation (2) by support means (6), the support means (6) comprises mainly a ball (8) disposed between the foundation (2) and the building, a slide support member (10) equipped with a spherical recess portion (10b1) for retaining the ball (8) in a slidable state, and fixed to the bottom surface (4a) of the building, and a rolling support member (12) fixed to the foundation (2) and supporting the ball (8) in a rolling state.
