Abstract:
A self-charging electromagnetic retarder that comprises a self-powered electromagnetic-retarder unit and an electromagnetic-retarder unit. Said self-charging electromagnetic retarder functions as an electromagnetic retarder in a low-rotational-speed region in which generated power is insufficient and functions as a self-powered retarder in a high-rotational-speed region. The self-powered electromagnetic-retarder unit is provided with the following: a main retarder body comprising a stator yoke (9), electromagnetic coils (L1-L12), and a steel rotor (10); a control device (5); and a high-rotational-speed-region drive device (7) containing transistors (T1-T3). Together with capacitors (C1-C12), the electromagnetic coils for each of a number of phases form a resonant circuit, and each transistor is inserted in series with the multi-phase wiring for the electromagnetic coils. The electromagnetic-retarder unit is provided with the following: a charging/electricity-storing unit (13) that is charged by the self-powered electromagnetic retarder; a reverse-current prevention diode (D1); and a low-rotational-speed-region drive device (16) containing transistors (T4-T6) for the abovementioned low-rotational-speed region. Each of the transistors for the low-rotational-speed region is inserted in series with the respective multi-phase wiring via the charging/electricity-storing unit and the reverse-current prevention diode.
