The present invention relates to the technical field of air conditioners, and particularly provides a self-cleaning humidification control method for an air conditioner. In order to improve the self-cleaning effect of the air conditioner, the self-cleaning humidification control method for an air conditioner of the present invention comprises: if an air conditioner needs to execute self-cleaning, obtaining the current humidity of indoor air and a heat exchanger image of an indoor unit; processing the heat exchanger image to obtain the dirt level of the heat exchanger; calculating, according to the dirt level of the heat exchanger, a frost intensity and a target humidity of the indoor air required for meeting the frost intensity; and controlling the humidification amount for the indoor air according to the current humidity of the indoor air and the target humidity of the indoor air. By controlling the humidification amount for the indoor air, the present invention effectively avoids the situation that the humidity of the indoor air is too low to reach a preset frost intensity and the situation that the humidity of the indoor air is too high but the indoor air is still humidified, thereby ensuring the frost thickness of the air conditioner during self-cleaning, and further improving the self-cleaning effect of the air conditioner.
