Title:
SELF-DAMPING FLYWHEEL HAVING A CENTRE OF INERTIA WHICH IS OFFSET RELATIVE TO THE ROTATION AXIS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2000/052356
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention pertains to the field of machine-tooling and to the construction of electric machines, and can be used preferably for increasing power on the shafts of piston engines or electric motors. This invention substantially reduces or eliminates detrimental mechanical vibrations compared to known flywheels having an offset centre of inertia and an identical flywheel mass. This flywheel (11), whose centre of inertia is offset relative to the rotation axis (12), is realised so as to be symmetrical relative to its own axis (13) and is rigidly connected to the shaft so that the flywheel (11) rotation axis (12) intersects its symmetry axis (13) in O at an angle $g(b), and so that the centre of inertia Z of said flywheel (11) is offset by a value r relative to the rotation axis (12), wherein r is the rotation radius of the centre of inertia Z about the rotation axis (12).
