Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a self-propelled electronic device which, even if an obstacle is present in a room, travels the interior of the room without missing any part while avoiding the obstacle. Provided is a self-propelled electronic device in which, when a casing travels a zig-zag course in a closed region, if an obstacle sensor has sensed an obstacle ahead of the casing when the casing is progressing in either an outbound path or a return path, a travel control unit causes the casing to travel along the obstacle such that the obstacle is located to a predetermined side of the casing, either the left or the right thereof. If, during the travel along the obstacle, the casing has advanced by a prescribed pitch in a direction which is perpendicular to the outbound-reverse direction, the travel control unit causes the casing to change direction and move straight ahead in the next return path or outbound path. Conversely, upon returning once more to the original outbound path or return path during the travel along the obstacle, f the orientation of the casing is reversed versus when the casing had been traveling the outbound path or return path, the travel control unit terminates the travel of the casing.
