Abstract:
In order to protect an ultrasonic sensor from damage caused by static electricity, a self-propelled vacuum cleaner is characterized by being provided with: a self-propellable housing having a suction opening and an exhaust opening; a blowing section for sucking in air and dust on the floor surface through the suction opening and for exhausting air having the dust removed therefrom through the exhaust opening to the outside; an ultrasonic sensor for transmitting and receiving ultrasonic waves and detecting external objects; and a control section for receiving the output of the ultrasonic sensor and controlling the self-propelling operation of the housing. The ultrasonic sensor is arranged inside the housing, and the housing is provided with a window through which the ultrasonic sensor transmits and receives ultrasonic waves and an electroconductive ring fitted into the window, the ring being grounded.
