Abstract:
A self-tapping screw for jointing fiberboard comprises a screw head and a screw shank.
It may include additionally screw tip. A threading portion is provided on a part
of the screw shank or the entire screw shank. Any cross-section of the threading
portion forms a polygon, such as pentagon, hexagon or heptagon. The points of
the cross-section are lobes and at the same circumference. The threading portion
forms spiral multi-prism construction. Due to the polygonal cross-section, the
threading and the board contact through points and the contacting area between them
is reduce. The spiral multi-prism construction makes bits be discharged more
easily. The results is that the self-tapping screw in the invention is more laborsaving
and rapidly than traditional self-tapping screw.
