1. Semi automatic disc filter characterized in that internal flow diverter is used for self cleaning by diverting a flowing fluid source through filter wherein said housing having fluid inlet (1) and a fluid outlet (3) for the fluid to be filtered, and a flushing outlet for the dirt separated from the fluid.

2. Semi automatic disc filter claimed in claim 1 wherein fluid, such as water, to be filtered is introduced into housing via an inlet (1), and is filtered by a filter body, before exiting from the housing via outlet (3).

3. Accordingly as claimed in claim 1 wherein said housing includes an inlet for receiving a pipe for a flushing liquid which is fed to a cleaning nozzle to flush the dirt particles accumulated on the filter body to a flushing outlet or drain.

4. As claimed in claim 1 wherein said cleaning nozzle, by loosening collar, is movable along the complete length of the filter body during a cleaning operation so as to throughly flush it with the flushing liquid introduced via pipe.

Description:
SEMI AUTOMATIC DISC FILTER

DESCRIPTION.

Technical field of invention:

The present invention in general relates to the filter assembly and more particularly relates to Semi automatic disc filtration system used in agriculture and in industry for separating dirt particles from water or other fluids.

Prior art

Disc filtration experiences a severe problem when biologically active fluids are being filtered. The biological growth sticks the discs together. The surface area of the disc can be both large and grooved, so the force required to separate the discs for cleaning can be substantial.

Automatically backwashed filters use a technique of removing the clamping pressure on the discs during the backwash cycle. One example of such automatically backwashed disc filtration systems is the "Spin Klin" filter sold by Arkal Filtration Systems of Jordan Valley, Israel. When backwashing such filters, all the discs do not separate and the automatic backwash is inefficient due to build up of biological growth on the disc. The number of discs stuck together increases over time and eventually the filter has to be disassembled for cleaning. Different filter manufacturers use different variations of this method, and all suffer the same problem.

In the case of manual disc filters, a common operating procedure is to backwash the discs by reversing the flow until this becomes ineffective due to the adhesion of the biological growth in the grooves in the discs. The filter is then taken apart for cleaning. Many constructions of fluid filtering devices have been proposed to facilitate their cleaning. The common type of filtering device includes a simple manual cleaning arrangement which requires the filter housing to be opened in order to provide access to the filter body, for example filter discs, for cleaning them. Another type of filter includes an automatic cleaning arrangement which, upon sensing an undue build-up of dirt on the filter body, automatically effects a cleaning operation for cleaning the filter. The latter type filter does not require opening the filter housing, but is generally of considerably more complicated construction than the manually-cleanable filter, and is therefore considerably more expensive to produce and also to maintain. Existing filters, typically inefficiency, unsatisfactory work performance.

For the reasons stated above, at least one of the reasons above, which will become apparent to those skilled in the art upon reading and understanding the specification, there is a need in the art for a system and method which overcomes the drawbacks associated with the prior art.

Object:

1. The primary object of the present invention is to provide Semi automatic disc filter apparatus that allows both filtering mode and self-cleaning mode.

2. Another object of the present invention is to provide fluid filtering devices that to be constructed and maintained at substantially lower cost.

3. Another object of the present invention is to enable cleaning the filter without opening the filter housing or disconnecting the filter from the supply line.

4. Another object of the present invention is to provide high efficiency semi- automatic disc filter apparatus. Other objects, features and advantages will become apparent from detail description and appended claims to those skilled in art.

STATEMENT:

The present invention relates to a Semi automatic disc filter apparatus and in particular, to such a filtering apparatus that having a self-cleaning capabilities using an internal flow diverter to direct fluid flow through the filter apparatus to allow both filtering mode and self-cleaning mode.

Detailed description:

The present invention provides Semi automatic disc filter device. The filtering device comprising a housing having fluid inlet (1) and a fluid outlet (3) for the fluid to be filtered, and a flushing outlet for the dirt separated from the fluid.

The fluid, such as water, to be filtered is introduced into housing via an inlet, and is filtered by a filter body, generally designated, before exiting from the housing via outlet. Housing further includes an inlet for receiving a pipe for a flushing liquid which is fed to a cleaning nozzle to flush the dirt particles accumulated on the filter body to a flushing outlet or drain. Cleaning nozzle, by loosening collar, is movable along the complete length of the filter body during a cleaning operation so as to throughly flush it with the flushing liquid introduced via pipe.

The filter apparatus according to the present invention utilizing an internal flow diverter may provide for self-cleaning by diverting a flowing fluid source through the apparatus filter housing. Optionally the flowing fluid source for cleaning may be diverted through the internal flow diverter according to the present invention in any flow direction through the apparatus housing, for example including forward flowing and/or back-flush flowing (reverse flow). Optionally the flowing fluid source for cleaning may for example include but is not limited to upstream unfiltered flowing fluid, upstream filtered flowing fluid, upstream in-line filtered flowing fluid, downstream filtered flowing fluid, an external contained - not in stream- fluid source, the like or any combination thereof.

Additional advantages and modification will readily occur to those skilled in art. Therefore, the invention in its broader aspect is not limited to specific details and representative embodiments shown and described herein. Accordingly various modifications may be made without departing from the spirit or scope of the general invention concept as defined by the appended claims and their equivalents.
