Abstract:

The angle of automatic opening of a liquid crystal section is reduced to a value less than the center angle of 70˚ to 90˚ in conventional portable telephones. A semi-automatic hinge, wherein a first cam and a second cam which are mounted on the shaft of a hinge are made to be in contact with each other by pressing force of an elastic member to generate rotational friction torque; the rotatable range of the liquid crystal section, said rotatable range being a range from a state in which the liquid crystal section and a body section of the first cam and the second cam are folded together to a state in which the liquid crystal section and the body section are fully opened, is set to be less than the range in which the hinge can rotate; the contact surface of the first cam has formed thereon a projection-like body; the contact surface of the second cam is provided, in the range of the center angle of 0˚ to 180˚ of the contact surface, with a cutout section located at the angle of 0˚ and with a crest section, a sloped section, and a deep trough section which are arranged, in that order, in the rotational direction from the initial portion of rotation, with the crest section provided in the range of the center angle which is less than 50˚; and a rotational angle restricting function for preventing the projection-like body of the first cam from slipping into the cutout section in the second cam when the body section and the liquid crystal section are folded together is formed in the range from the position of the center angle of 0˚ to the crest section.
