Abstract:
The proposed propeller unit comprises a propeller shaft mounted in such a way that its position in relation to the hull can be adjusted both when the vessel is at anchor and under way. Propeller blades mounted on the shaft are shaped in such a way that when they enter the water the thrust side is at right angles to the vessel's longitudinal-vertical plane. According to the invention, the pitch of the propeller blades can be altered in relation to the vessel's longitudinal-vertical plane and its main plane, or to both simultaneously, thereby increasing the vessel's speed, maneuverability, economic efficiency and safety.
