Abstract:
When attempting to achieve multiple functions, the number of components increases and there is work involved in mounting each of said components, thus leading to rising production costs and decreases in yield. In the present invention, a matrix-type display unit and a matrix-type optical sensor unit are produced on the same substrate. In addition, the number of components is reduced by incorporating drive circuits for each of the display unit and the optical sensor unit produced on the same substrate into a single chip. By incorporating an optical sensor into a display panel, it is possible to endow the display panel with functions such as a a barcode reader function and a scanner function. In addition, it is possible to endow the display panel with a function for verifying fingerprints or the like, or with an input/output function as a touch sensor.
